They are the only gemstone formed under the sea and can come in different shapes, colors, and sizes. They symbolise purity and generosity, and are associated with wisdom acquired over time. What is the process of forming pearls?

Fun fact; pearls are created inside oysters and mussels, a foreign substance slips into the oyster between the mantle and the shell which irritate the mantle, it’s kind of like the oyster getting a splinter. A pearl develops from a small speck of sand to a beautiful gemstone.
Natural pearls come in two forms: saltwater and freshwater. There are also cultured pearls, these are still authentic, however, humans assist in the process by implanting the splinter (a small bead or a piece of mantle tissue) into the oyster causing the pearl sac to form and eventually a pearl is created.

Use a soft cloth to clean pearls and use special pearl cleaning solutions if needed.
